Hall Booth Smith is excited to expand its Tampa office with the addition of Partner Bruce D. Peisner and Associates Alexis S. Duffey, Charlie Chin, Kiernan S. O’Keefe, and Emily K. Lehman.

Attorney Backgrounds

Bruce D. Peisner

Bruce specializes in health care litigation. He has over 35 years of experience defending nursing homes and assisted living facilities, personal injury cases, and family law matters. He brings a unique perspective having worked in both plaintiff and defense firms. Bruce has led or assisted in more than a dozen jury trials and twenty arbitrations and has experience handling appeals with several notable appellate decisions.

Alexis S. Duffey

Alexis practices in aging services, general liability, medical malpractice, and premises liability matters. Prior to joining HBS, she externed with a large insurance company in Sarasota where she was responsible for researching multiple internal compliance and contract issues. She was also a constitutional law research assistant who conducted extensive research on various first amendment free speech issues that was later published in an online article.

Charlie Chin

Charlie focuses on general liability, premises liability, and products liability matters. Prior to joining HBS, he worked as an associate with a national insurance defense firm where he focused on the defense of general liability, auto negligence, construction defect, premises liability, and breach of contract law. He also handled all the firm’s personal injury protection, auto glass, and subrogation cases. He began his career as an assistant state attorney with the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of the State of Florida and gained extensive trial experience prosecuting cases in Pinellas County.

Kiernan S. O’Keefe

Kiernan focuses her practice on general liability, health care, medical malpractice, and premises liability matters. Previously a summer associate with HBS, she also was a fellow for Justice Polston and Justice Couriel with the Florida Supreme Court. She interned for the Honorable Anne Leigh Gaylord Moe with the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit and clerked for the Florida Department of Health Prosecution Services Unit.

Emily K. Lehman

Emily specializes in aging services matters. Formerly a law clerk in the government relations department at HBS, Emily also worked as an associate for a trial defense firm in St. Petersburg, Florida, and represented both nursing homes and assisted living facilities. During her time at law school, she interned for the Honorable Mark. R. Wolfe with the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She also worked on political campaigns, including Senator Keith Perry’s re-election campaign for the Florida Senate, which was followed by a legislative internship in his district office.
