Attorney Karl Braun Elected to the 2014 Board of Directors of the Copyright Society of the South

Mr. Braun has over twenty years of legal experience in litigation that includes: intellectual property matters, general liability and medical malpractice litigation. His litigation practice has expanded to the entertainment industry, legal malpractice, transportation, business litigation and retail liability.  Mr. Braun’s entertainment litigation and transactional specialties were born from personal experience. Having spent more than fifteen years as a professional musician and songwriter, Mr. Braun offers a unique, first-hand understanding of the “real life” dynamics inherent in the relationship between industry and artist/songwriter.  Additionally, Mr. Braun offers a wealth of insight based upon his business experience and transactional work for entertainment industry entities of all types including, publishers, record companies, film and video production companies, entertainment conglomerates, songwriters, artists, administrators, entertainment entrepreneurs/investors and more.  His practice requires frequent and relevant interaction with all aspects of the entertainment world in areas including social networking, music and video streaming, downloading, subscription services and analyzing their impact on the industry as a whole.

The Copyright Society of the South was formed in 1988, in Nashville, Tennessee, consisting of music publishers, attorneys, business people and academians interested in the field of copyright law. Its mission is to provide a forum for study and discussion of domestic and international copyright law and other matters pertaining to the entertainment industry. It provides seminars, speakers, presentations, and the opportunity to present various points of view on subjects of interest to the membership.
