Maia Botero
Biography
Maia Botero is an associate in the Miami office of Hall Booth Smith, where her practice focuses on medical malpractice, premises liability, personal injury, real estate, and workers’ compensation matters.
Before joining HBS, Maia gained extensive experience in both litigation and dispute resolution. She began her legal career as a legal assistant at a workers’ compensation firm before serving as a case manager at JAMS, where she coordinated mediations and arbitrations and managed case files for complex disputes. During law school, Maia built a diverse background working with a real estate firm, a criminal defense practice, and as a certified legal intern in the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, where she handled felony cases and represented clients in early representation hearings. She first joined HBS as a summer associate, where she assisted in drafting legal documents and conducting research across multiple practice areas.
Maia earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where she concentrated in litigation and dispute resolution. During her time at Miami Law, she demonstrated strong leadership as President of the Yvette Ostolaza Mock Trial Team and the Fashion Law Society. She also served as a senator for the Student Bar Association and helped plan the annual barristers ball. Her achievements earned her multiple honors, including the 2024 Alan Ross Memorial Scholarship, honors in the trial and pre-trial litigation skills program, the Miami Dade Chapter of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers civic involvement scholarship, recognition as a quarterfinalist in the Chester Bedell Trial Competition, and selection to membership in the Order of Barristers.
A Miami native and proud first-generation Latina attorney of Colombian heritage, Maia is passionate about advocacy and committed to representing her clients with dedication and integrity.
