Biography

Steven P. Bristol is a partner with the firm and is located in its Brunswick, Georgia, office. His practice areas include appeals, insurance defense, medical malpractice, employment, general liability, governmental liability, products liability, construction, and intellectual property.

Experience

Appellate

Steven’s successes in the Court of Appeals of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, and in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals include opinions addressing issues involving indemnity, immunity, negligence issues regarding corporate knowledge, employment law relating to drug testing, Georgia’s expert witness qualifications statute, and defending a constitutional challenge to Georgia’s statute of limitations for medical malpractice actions.

Construction

Steven’s construction law practice has included representation of architects, contractors, and owners, assisting them in either avoiding potential liability or resolving disputes favorably.

General Liability

Steven has experience handling various general liability issues including motor vehicle liability, slip and fall, construction defects, negligent security, and insurance coverage.

Government Affairs

In addition to advising governmental clients, Steven’s practice has also involved representing businesses and individuals regarding code and regulatory compliance as well as direct representation of clients in their interactions with governmental entities.

Governmental Liability

Steven has defended governmental entities and officials regarding various claims including allegations of sexual harassment, gender discrimination in violation of Title IX, racial discrimination, search and seizure claims including excessive force, wrongful arrest, and violation of property rights. He has defended claims of deliberate indifference to serious medical needs. Steven has also assisted governmental clients regarding compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.

Intellectual Property: Entertainment

Steven’s practice also involves assisting clients with various issues involving copyrights, trademarks, and licensing.

Labor & Employment

Steven is committed to helping employers avoid, resolve, and prevail in employment disputes involving the full range of employment and labor issues. This includes litigation in state and federal courts and the representation of employers before administrative agencies over claims including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodation, and state torts such as negligent supervision and hiring, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, defamation, invasion of privacy, and wrongful discharge allegations.

Medical Malpractice

Steven has successfully represented doctors, hospitals, nurses, and dentists in medical malpractice cases. He strives to defend each client with the utmost zeal and professionalism.
