New Attorney Emily Jacobson Raleigh

Hall Booth Smith Welcomes Emily Jacobson to Raleigh Office

New Attorney Emily Jacobson Raleigh
RALEIGH, N.C. – Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) is pleased to announce that Emily Jacobson has joined the firm’s Raleigh office as an associate. Emily focuses her practice on medical malpractice, health care and aging services, representing healthcare providers in litigation matters.

“We are excited to welcome Emily to our Raleigh team,” said Maria Wood, Managing Partner of the firm’s Raleigh office. “Emily brings a strong academic foundation, a genuine interest in healthcare law, and valuable exposure to the legal and regulatory issues facing healthcare providers. Having previously worked with our firm as a summer associate, she is already familiar with our team and our approach to client service. We look forward to supporting her as she develops her practice.”

During her time as a summer associate with HBS, Jacobson gained hands-on experience supporting litigation matters involving medical malpractice and premises liability. Her work included drafting motions and discovery responses, conducting legal research, and observing depositions, mediations, and client meetings, providing her with a foundation in the litigation process and client representation.

Jacobson previously interned with the North Carolina Department of Justice, where she assisted with matters involving Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse. Her work included legal research involving the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and False Claims Act, as well as drafting civil investigative demands, litigation hold letters, and complaints. Before attending law school, she worked as a medical biller for a family-owned durable medical equipment company, gaining firsthand exposure to medical documentation, insurance reimbursement disputes, and overpayment audits. These experiences provide a foundation for her work representing healthcare providers and aging services clients.

Jacobson earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, where she served as chief comments editor of the Campbell Law Review, competed on the moot court team, and was a teaching scholar for an evidence course. She also participated in the Health Law Association and served as a peer mentor. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History, cum laude, from Hillsdale College.
