Hall Booth Smith Welcomes Mattia, McBride, Grieco, and Coddington in New Jersey

NEW JERSEY – April, 2022 – Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) is pleased to welcome four attorneys from the former New Jersey, boutique medical malpractice litigation firm, Mattia, McBride & Grieco, P.C. Attorneys Philip F. Mattia, Michael McBride and Haley K. Grieco join as Partners and Justyn M. Coddington joins as Associate as the firm continues to strengthen its medical malpractice and health care defense practices.

Philip F. Mattia joins as Partner with more than four decades of litigation experience. Philip specializes in defending the riskiest high-exposure cases, protecting the rights of health care systems, hospitals, urgent care centers, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, chiropractors and other health care professionals in complex medical malpractice lawsuits. He has tried more than 200 cases to conclusion, and has handled countless trials and obtained numerous successful verdicts and judgments for his clients as he works closely to set litigation strategy and manage risk in alignment with organizational goals. In addition, Philip has been appointed to the Supreme Court Committee on Character and has served as Acting Chair. Philip earned a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A., magna cum laude, in Philosophy from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.

Michael McBride joins the firm as Partner and he defends hospitals, physician groups, doctors and other health care professionals in complex medical malpractice matters. Michael protects the rights of clients at all stages of litigation, from initial complaint through research, pleadings, discovery and trial. He has handled numerous cases to conclusion, and advocated for clients in and outside the courtroom including settlement negotiations and other alternative dispute resolution forums. Michael earned a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.S. in Accounting from Fordham University.

Haley K. Grieco joins HBS as Partner with more than a decade of experience defending physicians, hospitals and other health care providers in a wide range of medical malpractice litigation. She protects the rights of clients in complex and high-exposure cases including catastrophic injury, wrongful diagnosis, misdiagnosis and other liability claims related to medical care. She represents health care systems, urgent care centers, physician groups, doctors, nurses, administrators, insurers and other clients of all sizes on medical malpractice defense. Haley earned a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.S., cum laude, in Applied Psychology from New York University. She also completed an A.A. Degree from New York University.

Justyn M. Coddington joins the firm as an Associate and he concentrates his practice on medical malpractice defense for clients of all sizes. Justyn handles all aspects of litigation from the inception of the complaint through discovery, motions, depositions, expert witness preparation, objections, and court appearances. He also represents clients in settlement conferences and Ferreira conferences, and is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society. Justyn earned a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and a B.S., summa cum laude, in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University.
