HBS Attorneys Recognized as Rising Stars in 2020 Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine

In the 2020 edition of the Georgia Super Lawyers magazine, the law firm of Hall Booth Smith (HBS) has once again been recognized for its outstanding legal work as four of its attorneys are on the list of Rising Stars. Attorneys Joel McKie and Sean Cox of the Atlanta office; Timothy Bishop of the Brunswick office; and Jennifer Herzog of the Tifton office, have all received this honor.

For the eighth time, Partner Joel McKie is honored as a Rising Star for his work in energy and resources. Mr. McKie counsels farm and agribusiness clients, both institutional and family-owned, during every stage of farm land and agricultural operations transactions, including negotiations, due diligence, closing, and post-closing integration and operations. A member of the firm’s management committee, he has also lead commercial and real estate transactions in the healthcare space. Mr. McKie is also active in the Georgia Agribusiness Council, a lifetime member of the National FFA Alumni Association, and a member of the Agriculture Law Section of the Georgia Bar Association.

Partner Sean Cox was honored as a Rising Star for his work in defense civil litigation. Mr. Cox is a determined and experienced litigator. His clients include individuals, insurance companies, small enterprises, and Fortune 500 companies. He understands the distinct needs of those different types of clients and has successfully tried many cases to verdict but understands that creative solutions often better serve his clients.

Brunswick attorney Timothy Bishop was honored for his work in defense civil litigation. Mr. Bishop concentrates his practice on insurance defense, general liability and business litigation. He  is an experienced attorney who has handled hundreds of litigation matters and participated in several jury and bench trials over the years. This is his second year to receive this Rising Star designation.

Tifton Partner Jennifer Herzog was recognized as a Rising Star for her practice in state, local and municipal work. Ms. Herzog has extensive experience representing governmental entities in a wide array of liability settings. She has been called upon to address a variety of issues impacting county government, including but not limited to: competitive bidding, zoning and land use planning, inter-governmental agreements, open meetings, open records, department of justice investigations, human resource issues, tax equity issues, roads/highways/paving, SPLOST, TSPLOST, LOST, local ordinances, elections and election litigation, construction projects, local legislation, code enforcement, and tax appeals. Jennifer has served as counsel for governmental entities on a variety of issues in litigation, including open records, employment, and state and federal anti-discrimination laws.
