Healthcare Executive Aaron D. Webb Joins HBS as Of Counsel

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. is thrilled to announce that longtime healthcare and retirement community executive and general counsel Aaron D. Webb has joined the firm as Of Counsel.

Webb concentrates his practice on medical malpractice defense, aging services, general liability, and arbitration and mediation, and he works closely with client leadership teams to develop legal strategy that aligns with business objectives and supports growth goals.

Webb has extensive experience as a senior executive and chief executive officer of retirement communities, assisted living and memory care, and skilled nursing facilities. He previously managed litigation for a major regional electric and telecommunications provider, and began his career in finance and retirement account operations.

Before joining HBS, Webb started his own consulting firm that works with seniors and their families to navigate the complexities of long-term care and housing decisions, determine the best options for healthcare, and manage financial matters as well as related estate planning and elder law considerations.

Webb was previously the chief executive officer and president of CHI Living Communities, which is part of Common Spirit Health, the largest nonprofit health system in the United States with more than $30 billion in revenue and 1,000 care sites across 21 states. He oversaw all corporate strategy, operations, finance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters, marketing and customer acquisition while also reducing costs and driving profit margins during the pandemic.

“Aaron’s experience as a CEO and senior executive in the health care and aging services sectors brings invaluable insight where business and law intersect, and all of our clients will benefit from his wisdom and perspective,” said Alex Booth, Managing Partner at HBS.

Earlier in his career, Webb was chief operating officer of Morning Pointe Senior Living in Tennessee, where he oversaw transactions involving legal maneuvers and enterprise risk management, and helped manage 1,500 employees and strategic partnerships alongside the CEO and President.

He previously served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Interim CEO and Board Member at Life Care Centers of America, Inc., the largest privately owned skilled nursing provider in the U.S. As Interim CEO of two business lines, he sourced and negotiated a profitable sale of the Home Health & Hospice Division, restructured the legal department, and oversaw strategic initiatives to improve integrated loss prevention, risk financing, and Department of Justice matters. In an earlier role as Senior Vice President of Legal, Webb oversaw a team of 40 attorneys and support staff while managing large-scale litigation, insurance, risk management, general counsel, and operations of the $400 million captive self-insurance company.

Before focusing his career on health care and assisted living, Webb was Vice President at the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga, an electrical distribution and high-speed telecommunications company owned by the City of Chattanooga.

He began his career at Fidelity Investments where he created investment strategies and financial solutions for corporate clients, and he was licensed in FINRA Series 6 and 63. Webb earned his JD from the University of Tennessee College of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
