Attorneys Monica L.C. Lester and Emma M. Feeney Join HBS Denver
Hall Booth Smith is excited to welcome Of Counsel Monica L.C. Lester and Associate Emma M. Feeney to its Denver office.
Monica’s Background
Monica L.C. Lester focuses on construction, general liability, insurance coverage, and premises liability matters. She has over 22 years of experience in litigation and over 10 years of experience in insurance coverage and bad faith disputes.
Prior to joining HBS, Monica was Of Counsel for a mid-sized firm where she handled complex insurance coverage and bad faith disputes as well as representing general liability, construction, premises liability, automobile, and professional liability litigation matters. She was also claims counsel for Mountain States Mutual Casualty Company. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver. She also earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Denver, where she was president and head delegate of the Model United Nations Conference Organization.
Emma’s Background
Emma M. Feeney primarily concentrates her practice on correctional health care, medical malpractice, labor and employment, and general liability matters. In addition to her litigation practice, she enjoys advising her corporate clients on risk management and policy development.
Prior to joining HBS, Emma worked as an Associate for a local insurance defense firm. There, she second-chaired a mediation of a highly contentious wrongful death case involving combined policy limits of close to $40 million and obtained a favorable outcome for her mid-sized corporate client. Prior to that, she was an Associate at a small plaintiffs’ employment firm, where she obtained a rare cause finding from the Colorado Civil Rights Division and subsequently negotiated a favorable settlement on behalf of her client who brought claims for discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation against their former employer.
Emma earned her Juris Doctor with a certificate in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Denver, where she was a Provost’s Merit Scholar and President of the Women’s Legal Coalition. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the College of William and Mary.
“We are thrilled to have the experience and talent of Monica and Emma join the Denver office,” said Scott Nixon, managing partner of the Denver office.
