Three Hall Booth Smith Charleston Partners Selected as Rising Stars in the 2022 South Carolina Super Lawyers Magazine

The 2022 edition of the South Carolina Super Lawyers Magazine recognized the law firm of Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) for its outstanding legal work, highlighting Charleston Partners Elizabeth Morrison, Derek Newberry and Lauren Spears Gresh on its list of Rising Stars.

Partner Elizabeth “Liz” Morrison was recognized for her work in general defense. Liz has a wide-range practice that includes transportation and trucking, professional negligence, premises liability, negligent security, sexual assault, director and officer liability, residential and commercial landlord-tenant issues, first party bad faith, automobile insurance coverage, and medical malpractice. She also provides general representation and counseling to local businesses including contractors, property managers, and those in the food and beverage industry. Over the course of her tenure, she has gained extensive experience in defending cases that involve traumatic brain injuries and mold exposure.

Partner Derek Newberry was acknowledged for his work in civil litigation defense. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of construction defect, professional malpractice, product defect, personal injury, wrongful death and property damage litigation. Derek is actively involved in the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, and previously served as the President of its young lawyers division. Derek also completed a comprehensive, year-long leadership program by the Charleston Chamber of Commerce.

Partner Lauren Spears Gresh is honored as a Rising Star for her work in medical malpractice defense. Lauren defends cases throughout the Southeast in areas of medical malpractice, wrongful death, birth trauma litigation and insurance defense. She formerly served on the Charleston School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors and is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association.
