William Dodd is an Associate in our Nashville office where he focuses his practice on business litigation, business transactions, corporate and partnership, general liability, premises liability, transportation and workers’ compensation matters.

Prior to joining HBS, William was an Associate at a firm outside of Nashville where he focused primarily on business transactions, commercial litigation and domestic relations, and also worked at a boutique business transactional firm in Nashville. Additionally, William was a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable James G. Martin III and the Honorable Deanna Bell Johnson of  Tennessee’s 21st Judicial District. Earlier in his career, William managed multiple dental offices in Middle Tennessee, and formerly worked as a licensed real estate affiliate broker.

William earned his J.D. from Belmont University College of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the Health Law Journal and dean’s list recipient each semester. He competed in several competitions, including advancing to the semi-finalist round during the National Moot Court Competition, advancing to the championship round of the Dean’s Cup Oral Argument Tournament, and he was awarded “Best Brief” in the Emory University School of Law Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition.

William also holds a B.A., cum laude, in English Literature with a double minor in Visual Art and Religion from Belmont University. During his undergraduate studies, William was a student athlete and team captain of the baseball team, and was later inducted into the Belmont University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022. Upon graduation, William was a recipient of the Lumos Award, allowing him to intern as a freelance journalist with the Law and Human Rights Office in Cape Town, South Africa.
