Hall Booth Smith Names Blauvelt, Morrison, and Smith as Partners

ATLANTA – February 3, 2021 – Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) has named three new partners as the firm elevates leaders and recognizes their outstanding service to clients.

Joining the firm’s partnership ranks are Danielle S. Blauvelt in Nashville, Elizabeth F. Morrison  in Charleston and Mariel E. Smith in Columbus.

Danielle S. Blauvelt specializes in the defense of a wide range of health care liability matters, including wrongful death and birth trauma, and correctional health care in state and federal courts. She brings more than a decade of litigation experience to HBS, and previously worked at law firms in California where she defended doctors, dentists, health care providers and health care systems in a variety of malpractice lawsuits. She also handled numerous employment matters and served as in-house counsel for a major insurance company. Danielle earned a J.D. from Southwestern Law School and holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Elizabeth “Liz” F. Morrison focuses her practice on transportation and trucking, professional negligence, premises liability, residential and commercial landlord-tenant issues, insurance coverage and medical malpractice. Prior to joining HBS, Liz practiced as a civil litigator with a focus on transportation and general liability matters. In 2015, she was selected as one of thirteen inaugural ambassadors to the South Carolina Bar Foundation and joined the board in 2019. She has served on the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection since 2016 and has represented the Ninth Judicial Circuit in the South Carolina House of Delegates since 2018. She has been honored as a “Legal Elite of the Lowcountry” for insurance law by Charleston Business Magazine and was recently recognized as “One to Watch” in 2021 by Best Lawyers®. Liz holds a J.D., cum laude, from the Charleston School of Law and a B.A., magna cum laude, from East Carolina University.

Mariel E. Smith has years of experience in defending companies in labor and employment lawsuits and prelitigation investigations involving various state and federal agencies. She provides training to clients and has assisted clients in mediations and internal investigations, as well as in wage and hour, discrimination and harassment disputes. Outside of HBS, Mariel has worked as a Superior Court judicial law clerk, Assistant District Attorney for the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit, and the Associate Magistrate Judge for Muscogee County. Mariel has also worked as General Counsel for a global manufacturing company where she managed international agreements, maintained the company’s trademark and patent inventory and oversaw complex litigation, including lawsuits involving products liability matters, patent infringement and trade secret theft. Recently, Mariel was recognized by Best Lawyers® as “One to Watch” in 2021, received the “On The Rise” award from the Daily Report’s 2020 Georgia Legal Awards and has been recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 by the National Black Lawyers. She earned her J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law, and holds a B.A., cum laude, from Mercer University.
