R. Ryan Rivas is a Partner in the St. Petersburg, Florida office of Hall Booth Smith, P.C. He represents hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in a broad spectrum of complex medical negligence cases throughout Florida.

Prior to joining HBS, Ryan worked as a trial attorney in a large national insurance defense firm, where he represented multiple hospital systems and physicians in a wide range of medical negligence matters, including birth-related trauma, catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. Ryan has also represented long-term care facilities, psychiatric facilities, and individual physicians and healthcare providers in connection with disciplinary proceedings in front of the Florida Department of Health.

In addition to his work in the field of healthcare litigation, Ryan also has experience in the areas of construction defect, products liability, dram shop/liquor liability, negligent security, contract disputes, insurance coverage, as well as other general liability matters.

Ryan earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Barry University School of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Criminology with minors in Communications and Psychology  from Florida State University.

Ryan and his wife reside in Tampa, Florida.
