Nine Hall Booth Smith Attorneys Selected as Rising Stars in the 2022 Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine
In the 2022 edition of the Georgia Super Lawyers magazine, the law firm of Hall Booth Smith (HBS) has once again been recognized for its outstanding legal work as nine of its attorneys are on the list of Rising Stars. Attorneys Russell Britt, Brittanie Browning, Jacquelyn Clarke, Sean Cox, Jake Evans, Alex Kaufman, Joel McKie, Jacob Raehn and Tiffany Winks Vickers of the Atlanta office have all received this honor.
Partner Russell Britt was recognized for his work in the State, Local and Municipal category. Russell’s practice specializes in both representing government entities and authorities as general counsel and defending them in litigation throughout Georgia. He currently serves as the County Attorney for multiple counties. In this role, he advises the counties and their local constitutional officers on all general legal matters, including constitutional and statutory authority, employment, elections, and zoning. Russell has served various local government entities and authorities as outside counsel for discrete legal projects, including providing legal opinions on a broad spectrum of government-related issues.
Atlanta attorney Brittanie Browning was also recognized for her work in the State, Local and Municipal category. She focuses her practice on appellate, general liability, and government liability matters. Before joining HBS, Brittanie was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia in the Education, Election, Government, and Judiciary section. She is actively involved in the Young Lawyer’s Division (YLD) of the State Bar and currently sits on the YLD Executive Committee. Brittanie was awarded the YLD’s Award of Achievement for Outstanding Service to the Public in 2018 and 2019.
Partner Jacquelyn Clarke is honored as a Rising Star for her work in personal injury medical malpractice defense. Jacque focuses her practice on complex medical malpractice cases. Her experience includes a wide variety of areas including heart and spine surgeries, anesthesia claims, and birth trauma cases. Since the beginning of her practice, she has defended complex professional liability cases, including those against doctors, nurses, EMTs, lawyers, engineers, and accountants. She also has significant experience in wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and product liability cases.
Partner Sean Cox was honored as a Rising Star for his work in defense civil litigation. Sean is a determined and experienced litigator. His clients include individuals, insurance companies, small enterprises, and Fortune 500 companies. He understands the distinct needs of those different types of clients and has successfully tried many cases to verdict but understands that creative solutions often better serve his clients.
Atlanta Partner Jake Evans was acknowledged for his work in Business Litigation on the Rising Stars list. Jake represents individuals and companies in matters involving complex litigation; government and regulatory work at the local, state and national level; and general business and corporate law advice and counsel. Jake’s litigation practice focuses on disputes involving breach of contract and fiduciary duties, residential and commercial real estate (including wrongful foreclosures, partitions, quiet title actions and commercial leases), restrictive covenants, business dissolutions, partnerships and joint ventures, derivative corporate claims, note defaults and workouts, and intellectual property (IP), including patents, copyrights and trademarks.
Partner Alex Kaufman was recognized as a Rising Star for his work in Business Litigation. He is an experienced trial attorney who represents clients on business transactions, commercial matters, employment and securities issues. He also counsels clients on government relations, employment issues, as well as corporate and franchise matters.
For the tenth time, Partner Joel McKie is honored as a Rising Star for his work in business and corporate work. Joel counsels farm and agribusiness clients, both institutional and family-owned, during every stage of farm land and agricultural operations transactions, including negotiations, due diligence, closing, and post-closing integration and operations. A member of the firm’s management committee, he also handles commercial, business, and real estate transactions across several other industries.
Partner Jacob Raehn was selected to the list for his work in medical malpractice defense. Jacob has successfully second-chaired trials spanning Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. He has extensive experience with complex litigation on a national scale and has worked on many high stakes medical malpractice cases.
Partner Tiffany Winks Vickers is honored as a Rising Start for her work in Construction Litigation. Tiffany’s litigation and insurance defense practice focuses mainly in the areas of construction defect and general liability. She has represented general contractors, developers, various subcontractor entities, a national window manufacturing company, as well as HOAs in a vast range of construction claims and disputes. She has experience in bad faith, coverage, premises liability, and products liability.
