The Atlanta Office of Hall Booth Smith Welcomes 10 New Associates

Hall Booth Smith’s (HBS) Atlanta office has welcomed 10 new attorneys who will support clients across a wide range of practice areas. Claire Adcox, Kathryn Brockett, Tia Brown, Morgan McClure, Anjali Patel, Lindsay Shewalter, Veronica Skelton, Paul Stegenga, Jr., Grayson Stewart, and Michael Strickland all joined the firm this fall.

Meet Our New Atlanta Attorneys
Claire Adcox focuses her practice on medical malpractice and general liability matters. Previously a summer associate at Hall Booth Smith, she gained experience conducting legal research and drafting memoranda across various litigation groups. She also assisted attorneys with deposition and trial preparation, including drafting direct and cross-examination questions, and prepared a Motion for Summary Judgment in a construction litigation case that was granted. Claire also clerked with a criminal defense firm, where she supported attorneys from initial client meetings and discovery through a felony murder trial.
Kathryn “Kat” Brockett focuses her practice on aging services, business transactions, and healthcare matters. Before joining the firm, Kat gained experience as a judicial intern for the Honorable Deah B. Warren in the Superior Court of Douglas County; she prepared bench memoranda and drafted judicial orders in domestic, criminal, and civil matters, including adoptions, equitable partitions, and child support modifications. During law school, Kat served as a student attorney in Emory Law’s Barton Child Law and Policy Clinic, researching national child welfare litigation and drafting public reports on consent decrees. She also interned with Voices for Georgia’s Children, conducting legal and policy research and drafting briefs on juvenile justice health care issues.
Tia Brown practices in aging services, medical malpractice, and other healthcare matters. She represents providers such as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospices, and personal care homes in all phases of litigation. Previously, Tia was a summer associate at HBS and gained additional experience with a Savannah law firm and a mediation non-profit, assisting with research, discovery, and court filings.
Morgan McClure practices in appellate, education, and governmental liability matters. She previously gained experience in education and government law through internships at the Georgia Tech Office of Equal Opportunity, Compliance, and Conflict Management and the Athletic Association, where she researched Title IX and NCAA issues and drafted athletics and employment contracts. Morgan also interned with the Forsyth County Schools Board of Education, preparing legal memoranda, reviewing policies, and advising on HR matters. While earning her J.D. at Georgia State University College of Law, she served as a graduate teaching assistant and worked with HBS’s government affairs and education groups on legislation impacting education.
Anjali Patel focuses her practice on arbitration & mediation, general liability, insurance coverage, premises liability, and professional malpractice & ethics. Before joining HBS, Anjali gained experience in both the private and public sectors, working on commercial arbitration matters at an Atlanta firm and serving as a corporate counsel extern for FedEx, where she assisted with regulatory and compliance projects. She also interned for Judges Ken Smith and Jason Ashford, conducting legal research and drafting orders and recommendations.
Lindsay Shewalter focuses her practice on general liability, premises liability, government liability, and commercial litigation. She previously served as a summer associate with Hall Booth Smith and as a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, where she supported narcotics prosecutions through legal research, drafting motions, and trial preparation. During law school, Lindsay mediated landlord–tenant disputes through Georgia State’s Landlord–Tenant Mediation Clinic, worked with the Assistant Dean of Student Success, and was an active member of the Moot Court Team.
Veronica Skelton practices in appellate, business litigation, business transactions, corporate & partnership, and governmental liability matters. She previously worked as a summer associate with the firm, assisting on medical malpractice, government liability, and intellectual property cases, and at another Atlanta firm, where she handled SBA loan closings and business acquisition transactions. Earlier in her career, Veronica contributed to the Legal Disparities & Equity Service Program in Athens, developing solutions to address legal factors contributing to homelessness.
Paul Stegenga, Jr. focuses his practice on aging services, healthcare, and general liability. Before joining Hall Booth Smith as an associate, Paul gained valuable experience as a law clerk at a personal injury firm. He was also a part of the Corporate Counsel Externship Program at Mercer University School of Law, where he externed with the Office of General Counsel at Georgia College & State University. Through these opportunities, Paul gained experience in litigation, transactional, and regulatory work.
Grayson Stewart focuses his practice on general liability, construction, premises liability, products liability, and transportation matters. Prior to joining Hall Booth Smith, Grayson gained valuable legal experience through clerkships in the private sector. As a law clerk at a Tuscaloosa-based firm, he drafted motions and briefs, prepared contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and conducted complex legal research. He also served as a law clerk with the America First Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., where he researched unique constitutional law issues, prepared complaints in Freedom of Information Act cases, and drafted memoranda addressing topics such as substantive due process, equal protection, and municipal liability.
Michael Strickland focuses his practice on business litigation, general liability, premises liability, products liability, and transportation matters. Before joining HBS, Michael gained legal experience as a law clerk at a local firm, where he researched and analyzed complex issues for large financial institutions, including lender liability, securities fraud, and breach of contract claims. He also drafted and revised stock purchase agreements and other transactional documents, contributing to successful closings. Earlier, as a legal intern, he supported litigation teams on civil rights and personal injury matters by preparing demand letters, discovery requests, and deposition summaries.
